A member of the Louisiana's regulatory commission for power companies says Entergy makes too much money, and their rates should come down.
After the deep freeze and rolling blackouts of last week, Public Service Commission member Foster Campbell says Entergy's profits seem way too high for a regulated monopoly.
"I think we've been too lax," said Campbell. "I think they're making too much money."
Campbell said with customers facing spikes in their heating bills, he believes the power company has the money to provide some relief.
"We ought to take a harder look about the money that they're making. Maybe we can reduce the cost of electricity for consumers," said Campbell.
Campbell says he doesn't want to see consumers face shutoffs when Entergy is making the kind of profits it has been reporting.
