Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards today announced that outdoor stadiums can increase capacity to 50 percent of their maximums.
It comes as lawmakers pleaded on their constituent's behalf to allow larger crowd sizes at high school football games.
"We are going to allow stadiums to move to 50 percent capacity if they are in parishes with a percent-positivity less than five percent for the previous two weeks, based on the most recent report from LDH," the governor said.
Edwards said 26 of the 64 parishes meet the criteria. He said if a parish's percent-positivity rises above ten percent for two weeks, capacity will be restricted to 25 percent.
