The Louisiana Department of Health reports 3,022 hospitalized COVID-19 patients today, up 10 from yesterday as the state's health care system strains to its limits. In LDH Region 4, the Lafayette region, there is only one intensive care unit available as of today's report. Region 5, the Lake Charles area, is down to two.
The state reports 6,606 new cases today.
Percent-positivity, which public health officials say gives the best indication of how many people are infected, fell slightly last week, to 15.5 percent. It reached at 16,1 percent the previous week.
The state reports another 87 deaths from COVID-19.
