The cuisine in the British isles is not known for its flavors that leap off the plate. Perhaps that is why Louisiana Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain sees it as a place that could use Louisiana products.

Strain is set to visit the U.K. to promote Louisiana spices, meet agricultural officials, and tour farms and other agricultural sites.

Strain highlights the UK’s extensive agricultural land, with 71 percent dedicated to farming, focusing on staple crops like wheat, barley, oats, and potatoes.

Strain’s enthusiasm for Louisiana’s vibrant food culture and his excitement about his upcoming trip reflect his commitment to expanding Louisiana’s agricultural influence and fostering cultural exchange through food.

“That’s how we start that conversation, because we like to sell stuff to the U.K.,” he said.

Strain says he will be touring and looking at the U.K. agriculture and meeting with their officials.

“We will be going down to 10 Downing St. We’ll be going down to Parliament,” Strain said. “We’ll meet with the head veterinarians and their scientist.”
