One New Orleans job training center is hoping to be a go-to center for high quality technical education in the area. About half of New Orleans' jobs are considered "mid-skill," which means they require more than a high school degree, but not necessarily a bachelor's degree. Since 2018, the New Orleans Career Center has been helping area residents fill that need with education toward a variety of careers. Chief Strategy Officer Jake Gleghorn says the curriculum is based specifically on need. "All of our programs are mapped toward local demand in high wage, high demand industries. So, we're really looking at that workforce and economic data.

Gleghorn says he hopes for the New Orleans Career Center to be the hub for high quality technical education in the city of New Orleans. They have partnered with 24 public high schools in the area, and counselors of those high schools can share information with interested students as well. While there is a donate button on the website for anyone interested in donating to help the facility, funds from the public and private sector help to drive the organization." Those interested in more information can find it at nolacc.org.
