10,030 Louisiana residents have died from COVID-19, the Louisiana Department of Health said today.
"In 2017, the most recent year for which there is data, only heart disease took the lives of more people in Louisiana," LDH said.
COVID-19 caused more deaths than 2017's third though sixth leading causes of death (accidents, chronic lower respiratory disease, stroke, and Alzheimer's) combined.
Since Friday, the state reports 1,334 new cases, and the total number of coronavirus cases is now 441,066.
Hospitalizations are up four since Friday's reports, at 403.
