Federal aviation officials says the deadly crash of a Baton Rouge police helicopter was caused by the chopper's tail rotor clipping a tree, WWL-TV reports.
The helicopter was dispatched at 2 a.m. Sunday to assist with a pursuit. Its disappearance was not noticed for several hours. A search was launched, and the wreckage of the Robinson R-44 was found before 11 a.m.
The two officers on board the helicopter were killed in the crash.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
