Four boaters are safe after the Coast Guard rescued them from a vessel that was taking on water just off the Louisiana coast.
According to Coast Guard officials, that rescue happened last Sunday night about 20 miles south of Morgan City.
Watchstanders at the New Orleans sector office got a call from the crew of the 75-foot recreational boat around 10:30 p.m., saying that they were unable to keep up with the incoming water. Watchstanders then called the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office, which sent out its own boat crew to assist with the rescue.
A Coast Guard helicopter pulled the four boaters out of their vessel and flew them to Lakefront Hospital in New Orleans. No one was injured.
Officials say the boat's owner will work with a salvage company to pull the boat from the water.
