Scoot: Stop ignoring GOP critics of Trump's Gaetz appointment

The irony in politics today borders on comedy, but those who create the ironic situations don’t even realize how comical they are.

The news that president-elect Donald Trump selected Rep. Matt Gaetz to be the attorney general of the United States broke during my show and I immediately, before hearing comments from any other media source or any politician, mocked the appointment of Gaetz as ridiculous and comical.  Immediately, criticism poured out of media sources of Trump’s selection of Gaetz and much of the criticism came from REPUBLICANS!

How ironic that some listeners to my talk show and some posters to the Scoot On The Air Facenook page were quick to bash me for my criticism, as if I were a lone wolf condemning the selection of Gaetz as Trump’s attorney general.  But numerous Republicans who campaigned for Trump were also condemning the Gaetz appointment.  So why bash me?

Though I am a staunch Radical Moderate and a registered Independent, I am falsely labeled a “liberal” by some who listen to my show and follow me on social media.  There are a few who are dedicated to labeling me a “liberal” and refuse to actually listen to what I stand for.  I share more in common with true conservative ideology than I do with liberal ideology and it is obvious to those who actually listen to what I say.

Every cause needs a villain and I believe that some of those listeners and SOTA social media followers see me as the villain, which is why their judgment of me is unfair and jaded by their own bias.  The other thing is the reality that as a talk show host with an active presence on social media, I am approachable.  Those who seek a villain for their cause can call or text me while I’m on the air or post comments or send me DMs.  Either they can’t really reach the Republican politicians that agree with me on many issues, or, and I think this is the bigger possibility, they don’t want to criticize one of their own.  Not being able to bring themselves to honestly and openly criticize the Republicans who echo exactly what I believe they choose to make me the villain.  And I have to be okay with that because that’s part of the reality of my career choice.

But it is ironic that Fox News contributor, Republican Trey Gowdy, said that Trump’s selection of Matt Gaetz as attorney general is “absurd.”  Yesterday, I talked extensively on the show about the possibility President Trump will use the FCC as a weapon against the broadcasters who exposed the truth about him during the campaign and did not support him.  Gowdy also said on Fox News, “Do not use the justice system as a weapon.”  Gowdy added, the Justice Department, led by the attorney general, “is a combination of policy, law, and also morality.” Considering the testimony about Gaetz having sex with a high school student at a party with illicit drugs, Gaetz is not exactly a popular choice to head the nation’s justice system.

Here’s the real irony:  the listeners and SOTA posters look ridiculous bashing me for opposing the Gaetz appointment when countless Republicans who supported Trump are criticizing Trump’s appointment, too.
