A man was arrested in Florida on May 6 after he stole two police cars during a pursuit.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office released aerial footage that showed what went down when the chase began.

According to reports from WESH 2, the bizarre incident started when the suspect drove off in a patrol car after an officer responded to a report about a suspicious person on I-95 in Volusia County.

At the scene, officers with the Volusia Sherrif’s Office forced the stolen cruiser off the road, where it crashed into some woods. Police then surrounded the first car. However, the suspect escaped and stole another patrol car.

“The suspect and the vehicle were in the wooded area just off the highway. As officers attempted to take the suspect into custody, he fled, jumped into another Cocoa patrol vehicle and continued north,” a statement from the Cocoa police department said.

Footage from a helicopter confirms that the second car came to a stop on the highway median after police stopped it with drop sticks.

Documents from the investigation confirm that the suspect was identified as Xavier Javern Cummings.

Cummings was arrested at the scene. The suspect now faces several charges, including armed burglary of a conveyance, escape, fleeing, or attempting to elude law enforcement, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of grand theft firearm, two counts of grand theft motor vehicle, and driving while license suspended.
