The New Orleans Saints will play in the first-ever NFL game in Paris when they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, and league officials say Saints fans--and fans of every other team--should get used to games like this.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says the league's ultimate goal is to place a team in an international market. For now, Goodell says the league wants to have 16 international games annually so every team is playing outside the United States every season.
"I think that's an important mark to go for. I think we're well on our way," Goodell said. "There's also the demand we're having. We're hearing from cities all over the world that want to host these games and really want to get more American football. That's one of the things we're focused on."
Goodell says the league is well on its way to becoming a global sports league.
"Some of the greatest cities in the world are all asking: Can we do this?" Goodell said. "It's now about saying 'no, we don't have enough inventory or capacity.'"
