Three Wednesday evening carjackings in New Orleans

A woman driving between Canal Blvd. and Delgado Community College, found herself with a gun pointed at her and carjackers demanding she get out of her car.

She is among the latest victims in a huge increase in carjackings and armed robberies.


"Victim noticed black Honda Civic parked in middle of street," according to an initial police report. "Suspects exited vehicle and approached victim in her vehicle. One suspect armed with gun demanded victim exit her black Hyundai Palisade. Suspects took victim's purse, phone and vehicle and fled. Suspects left Honda at location."

It happened after 6:30pm in the 5500 block of Vicksburg Street.

A few minutes later in Treme, another woman was carjacked.

"Victim unloading her black 2016 Madza 3 hatchback... when she approached by four black male juveniles. One of subjects produce handgun and demanded victim car keys. Victim complied. Suspects fled in victim’s vehicle."

That was in the 1400 block of Governor Nicholls St.

A man driving in New Orleans East was then carjacked around 9:30pm.  The criminals not only took his car, but his shoes too.

"Victim approached by suspects and told to exit his vehicle. Suspects told to victim to take off his shoes and give them his keys. Suspects then fled in victim's black Hyundai Sonata."

That happened in the 7700 block of Poitevent Ave.
