Vice-president-elect Kamala Harris discussed on The Rashad Richey Morning Show how the United States Senate runoffs in Georgia play a pivotal role in America’s direction.
While voters in Georgia are currently heading to the polls to cast ballots in crucial runoff elections, Harris explained how Tuesday's results will determine the balance of power in the United States Senate.
Harris also touched on how healthcare, criminal justice reform, and a COVID-19 relief bill are all on the ballot. She also discussed how the Georgia runoff elections could determine Medicaid expansion and healthcare access for Americans across the nation.
Harris also said that the government should lead through morality.
“It’s not about how much money you have,” Harris said. “It’s about the fact we run our government in a way that understands it is the morally right thing to do to make sure it is a right to have health care.”
As for families all over the country struggling during the COVID-19 global outbreak, Harris said that 1 in 6 families in Georgia are struggling to pay rent during this pandemic.
While Americans are waiting for their second direct payment of relief, Harris said Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock are running to help voters across the nation truly. She also mentioned how Georgia Democrats are pushing for $2,000 stimulus checks.
“We want our leaders to be of the people, to come for the people, to support the people,” Harris added.
While voters have the opportunity to exercise their rights, Harris said it is essential for Americans to be heard.
“It will make a difference,” Harris said.
