The National Hurricane Center late this morning downgraded Beta to a tropical depression. It means all tropical storm warnings associated with the storm have been dropped, but it is going to linger as a rain maker for a few days.
"The depression is drifting toward the northeast near 2 mph," said National Hurricane Center forecaster Stacy Stewart. "A slow motion toward the east-northeast is expected by this afternoon and tonight."
The depression is expected to drop two to five inches of rain through the ends of the week. Flash flooding is a possibility.
