Areas north of Lake Pontchartrain experienced freezing temperatures this morning, with some locations north of Interstate 12 seeing temperatures in the 20s. Those temperatures will gradually rise as the sun comes up Thursday morning. The New Orleans Metro Area will see temperatures rise into the 60s on Thursday, as sunshine blankets the region. On Friday, temperatures will get into the 70s, staying there through the weekend. Temperatures will get back into the 80s next week.
Some showers will be possible along the Gulf Coast on Friday, but don't expect any precipitation inland anytime soon. However, you may smell smoke from the Bayou Sauvage fire. That smoke will be more noticeable depending on where your are and how the winds shift.
