Dry air bringing comfortable conditions for holiday weekend

Weather
Ian Auzenne/WWL

The cooler, less humid weather we've seen for the last few days will stick around through Sunday and possibly through Monday.

High temperatures will hit the upper-80s through the Memorial Day Weekend. Fronts over the east coast and the Tennessee Valley will keep drier air flowing over South Louisiana, keeping conditions comfortable despite the higher-than-usual temperatures for late July. Saturday's forecast features a 20-percent chance of rain, but any precipitation will be isolated, so don't cancel any of your Saturday plans.

The bad news: those fronts will break down, bringing higher humidity--and higher heat indices--back to our area as early as Tuesday. Rain will also return to the forecast during the middle of next week thanks to an upper disturbance that's expected to form.
