Your weekend will be clear and cool with highs in the 50 for Saturday and near 60 on Sunday. Then as we get into the middle of next week, temperatures plummet.
"High temperatures today will reach the mid 50s, and tomorrow near 60," said WWL-TV meteorologist Alexa Trischler. "Monday will also be mild with high temperatures near 60 degrees with scattered rain showers during the day."
Areas north of the lake could experience a hard freeze as soon as overnight Monday into Tuesday morning. Any rain that has not dried up could cause ice on overpasses and bridges.
Wednesday brings a hard freeze to both sides of the lakes, with temperatures in the teens north of the lake and in the 20s on the south shore.
The weather is expected to stay below freezing for a few hours, not warming up to above freezing until mid-morning Wednesday.
Another freeze is expected in areas north and west of Lake Pontchartrain overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning.
