"It's set to become Tropical Storm Bonnie by Tuesday and head almost due west eventually into Central America around Nicaragua," according to the local weather experts at WWL-TV. "It could become the first hurricane of the season in the southern Caribbean before it reaches Central America."

The storm is not a threat to the United States.

"The disturbance is producing some cells of strong convection, but overall the system is not very well organized," said Senior Hurricane Specialist Dr. Richard Pash at the National Hurricane Center, however "the environment looks fairly favorable for development."
