Hurricane Center monitoring Nicole's track to Florida

Tropics
NHC

We are into the second week of November, but that hasn't stopped the tropics from firing off.

Nicole is swirling in the Atlantic.

Subtropical Storm Nicole could become a hurricane.

"On the forecast track, the center of Nicole will approach the northwestern Bahamas on Tuesday, move near or over those islands on Wednesday, and approach the east coast of Florida by Wednesday night."

It is currently forecast to get close to hurricane strength, but may not get quite that powerful.

"Gradual strengthening is forecast during the next few days, and Nicole could be near or at hurricane intensity by Wednesday."

It could bring a lot of rain the Florida and South Carolina.

It is not a threat to Louisiana.

"The storm will then start to turn north by the end of the week thanks to an approaching trough," WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone explained.

That trough is associated with a cold front that will bring much colder air to Southeast Louisiana this coming weekend.
