The weather is looking great for parades tonight and tomorrow, but Sunday afternoon and evening could get dicey.
"Earlier is probably the better choice," WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone advised decision makers considering if they should move the Bacchus parade Sunday evening. "It's avoiding that severe weather, that's the thing."
He says heavy rain, high winds, lightning and even isolated tornadoes are possible.
"Earlier is probably safer."
However, Malone notes that the timing is still not set in stone... and the worst of the weather could come earlier or later.
Tonight's parades should be in great shape.
"It'll warm in the mid 70s when parades start, with only a few showers around. Don't expect any major problems with weather.
What about Saturday?
"It'll be a warm Saturday in the upper 70s with mostly cloudy skies and only a few showers. It doesn't look like much rain, so don't expect any big issues for parades."
Sunday's rain clears out by parade time Monday.
"Rain and storms look to linger into early Lundi Gras morning, but quickly clearing out as a cold front moves through. Temperatures will fall through the day with a bit of a breeze. So chilly and breezy."
Things get even colder by Fat Tuesday morning.
"Mardi Gras morning looks chilly with some upper 30s on the Northshore and 40s elsewhere with highs only in the mid to upper 50s. We will see more sunshine Fat Tuesday, but it will remain breezy."
