We are heating up in Southeast Louisiana.
"The warming trend continues with highs expected to soar to near 90 degrees for your Thursday," WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone forecasts. "This will likely be our warmest day of the year, and if we hit 90 degrees we'll tie our old record set back in 2002. It will also be humid, so it will feel like the low 90s. A few stray showers could popup during the afternoon, but most will stay dry. "
He says we should expect more rain to move in by Friday.
"A line of storms along with a cold front will move in from our north. It's still unclear if the line of storms that forms in northern Louisiana will bring us rain or if the cold front moving in will trigger showers and storms. Either way we do expect some showers with a few isolated thunderstorms throughout Friday. Rain totals right now look to be between 1-2 inches. "
Malone says that by Saturday we'll see slightly drier air move in and temperatures will stay in the low to mid 80s. Saturday overall doesn't look too bad, but we can't rule out a stray shower.
"By Sunday our next storms system moves through This will bring another round of showers and t-storms to the area on Sunday. Severe weather will possible on Sunday with high winds, hail and isolated tornadoes. The area could see an additional 1-2 inches of rain on Sunday. Check back for updates on Sunday's forecast."
