A couple waves of storms are expected to impact Southeast Louisiana today and tonight.
"The first round will try to work its way down to the Northshore and South Mississippi during the later morning and early afternoon," WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone forecasts. "The second round will begin to move in later in the afternoon/evening."
He says that the second round looks like the bigger risk for flooding and severe weather.
"Rain totals for most between 2-4 inches, but don't be surprised to see a few spots pick up over 5 inches. There is also a risk for damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes. The risk for severe weather will be highest this afternoon and tonight."
Malone says a few showers or storms could linger early Tuesday morning before we dry out.
"Wednesday will be a mostly sunny but hot day before yet more scattered storms return to the forecast starting Thursday and beyond. Keep umbrellas handy this week, and keep up with the forecast in case of changes later in the week."
