Smokey fog slows commute, delays and crashes reported

Monday morning arrived with dense patches of fog mixed with smoke across Southeast Louisiana.

"A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for most of Southeast Louisiana and the gulf coast of Mississippi," the National Weather Service advised.  "The combination of smoke, light winds and abundant moisture could cause dense fog and dangerous driving conditions."


Marsh fires in New Orleans East and lower Jefferson Parish made things even worse.

There was a pileup in I-510, and cops conducted convoys in Lafitte.

The Weather Service added, "Use low beams and give yourself plenty of time in the morning."
