If you think it has been raining a lot lately, you are not wrong. WWL TV meteorologist Payton Malone says through the first half of the year, the region has received a lot of rainfall.
"New Orleans is approaching 60 inches of rainfall for the year," the meteorologist said. He points out that is five feet of rain.
And some other areas in the region have had more than six-and-a-half feet of rain:
If the city gets the same amount of rain in the back half of the year, it would set a new record. The annual rainfall record is 102 inches at New Orleans International Airport, set back in 1991.
