The National Weather Service in New Orleans says a tornado touched down this afternoon on the Westbank of Jefferson Parish.
Eyewitnesses reported the tornado near Lapalco Blvd. in Harvey and another in Gretna. It was not clear if it was the same tornado or two twisters.
Damage was reported in Harvey and Gretna.
The cell was moving toward the Mississippi River and the city of New Orleans.
