Tropical Storm Bret has developed in the Atlantic Ocean and is headed west toward the Lesser Antilles.
Bret could become a hurricane later this week.
Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center say conditions for further strengthening appear conducive over the next few days. The region has warmer seas surface temperatures than normal, and there is light wind shear amid a very moist atmosphere.
Models vary when it comes to the storm's track. While the National Hurricane Center is forecasting a Caribbean storm, some models curve the storm north in the Atlantic Ocean before it reaches the Dominican Republic.
