Tropical Depression Four strengthened into Tropical Storm Danny around 3:00 p.m. today. Maximum winds are at 40 miles per hour.
A tropical storm warning is in effect for the South Carolina coast around Charleston, from Edisto Beach, South Carolina, northeastward to South Santee River.
Danny is so close to land and moving fast enough that it is not expected to strengthen before making landfall.
""No additional strengthening is anticipated before Danny makes landfall. Rapid weakening should commence shortly after landfall, with Danny likely becoming a remnant low by Tuesday morning," said National Hurricane Center Senior Hurricane Specialist Stacy Stewart.
