The low pressure system in the northwestern Caribbean developed a closed circulation to become Tropical Storm Helene on Tuesday morning.
The National Hurricane Center is warning Florida to get ready for a major hurricane, and there isn't a lot of time to prepare.
Helene is currently in the Caribbean and is forecast to be a category three hurricane by Thursday afternoon approaching landfall.
Federal forecasters say Florida should expect considerable flash and urban flooding, dangerous storm surge and hurricane conditions with winds over 115mph.
Impacts will continue into Georgia Friday.
