The Lumineers will be making their return to Chicago when they play the 93XRT Holiday Jam on December 7th at the Vic Theater. You can get more information about the show here.
As we gear up for the big night, let's take a look at five little known facts about The Lumineers.
1.) The name of Wesley Schultz & Jeremiah Fraites first band was Free Beer
When the founding members were first starting out in New York City, they were booking shows under the name Free Beer. Fraites told the Chicago Tribune, "it wasn't serious at first. We were a crappy band doing (terrible) covers. But we slowly started getting away from covers and writing originals. We were doing everything: vanilla singer-songwriter stuff, hard rock, electronic music. There was no focus; it was a mad, random mess."
2.) Their YouTube channel is primarily music videos, promos, & interviews, but there's this one strange clip.
Opting to avoid any deregatory iterations, the band intentionally named the song "Ho Hey" rather than "Hey Ho". He told People, "If people searched for it online, we'd rather it not be something that takes you in that direction."
4.) Drummer Jeremiah Fraites wears suspenders and a hat as his superhero outfit.
Fraites told the Huffington Post he was inspired to use the outfit after a friend's brother asked him when he goes on stage, "what kind of superhero are you?"
5.) Their first show in Chicago was at Reggie's Rock Club.
According to Setlist.fm, the band's first show in Chicago was on October 14, 2011 at Reggie's Rock Club. 8 years later, they are headlining the Allstate Arena.
