CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Better late than never, the Chicago Auto Show returned Thursday to McCormick Place.

The 2020 Chicago Auto Show was the last major show at McCormick Place before the COVID pandemic forced the cancellation of hundreds of shows at the convention center. So, it is only fitting that the 2021 Chicago Auto Show is the first event to kickoff the post-COVID convention schedule.

The 2021 Chicago Auto Show is much later than the usual date in February; and instead of a 10-day run, the show will run for five days. The roster of automakers is also lighter than in years past. Luxury brands like Acura, Audi, Infiniti, Cadillac, and Volvo are skipping this year, as are Hyundai, Mazda, and Mitsubishi. Despite that, there will still be a wide range of vehicles and interactive experiences for car lovers.

The show will have a smaller footprint inside McCormick Place, but it will also have a number of attractions outside.

The 2021 Chicago Auto Show will run Thursday, July 15 through Monday, July 19 at McCormick Place. Tickets are $13 for adults and $10 for senior citizens age 62 or older and children age 12 and under.

Show hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
