CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Customs agents confiscated fake COVID-19 vaccine cards at O’Hare International Airport on Monday. It’s the second such seizure at the airport this month.
The packages came from China and were supposed to contain greeting cards but U.S. Customs and Border Protection said, instead, its agents at the O’Hare’s International Mail Facility found 41 counterfeit COVID-19 vaccination cards.
The agency said the low quality of the cards was among the discrepancies that tipped them off. The packages were supposed to go to residential addresses in Bartelso in Southern Illinois and Houston, Texas.
At the beginning of the month, Chicago agents seized 19 fake cards that were bound for a home in Ohio.
