CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio) – A convenience store employee was injured during an early-morning robbery Monday at a 7-Eleven on the city’s Northwest Side, police said.

The incident happened just before 2 a.m. in the 2900 block of West Montrose Avenue, in the Albany Park–Ravenswood Manor area, according to Chicago police.

Investigators said a 54-year-old man was working inside the store when three men entered, took cash from both registers and grabbed cigarettes. Police said one of the suspects struck the employee in the face with a handgun.

The man was taken to Swedish Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

Police said the suspects fled the scene in a newer-model sedan. No one was in custody Monday, and Area Five detectives were investigating.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Chicago police.
