The wait to get into a concert at the Allstate Arena could be faster soon.
Rosemont bought new metal detectors for the village-owned venue.
A dozen new walk-through Evolv metal detectors will be placed across the stadium’s main entrances.
Mayor Brad Stephens tells WBBM Rosemont bought them after seeing how a more portable version worked at outdoor concerts in the village’s entertainment district this summer.
He says there was not a single incident that prompted the decision but rather it was “based on the craziness of society today we just want to make sure that we are proactive, not reactive.”
Allstate Arena security has been using hand-held wands until now.
Stephens isn’t sure exactly when the new machines - worth $1.1M - will arrive but expects them in the next month or so.
