Alsip man charged after hitting Chicago police officer during Chatham chase

An Alsip man faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after police say he struck a Chicago police officer with his car while fleeing from a scene in the Chatham neighborhood.

CHICAGO (WBBM Newsradio) – An Alsip man faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after police say he struck a Chicago police officer with his car while fleeing from a scene in the Chatham neighborhood.

According to Chicago police, 29-year-old William Warrior was identified as the suspect involved in a Saturday afternoon incident near 81st Street and Cottage Grove Avenue.

Officers were responding to a report of a person with a gun when Warrior allegedly entered a Chevy Impala, hit a marked squad car and an officer and then took off.

He was later taken into custody in the 4100 block of South Indiana Avenue. The injured officer was transported to a hospital for treatment and is reported to be in good condition.

Warrior has been charged with felony aggravated battery to a peace officer, two felony counts of criminal damage to government property, and aggravated fleeing from police. He also faces several misdemeanors, including reckless driving, operating an uninsured vehicle, and driving on a revoked license.

He is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing Monday.
