(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The number of Chicago-area Starbucks stores where workers have voted to unionize has risen to seven.

Employees at the store at Broadway and Devon in Edgewater voted 12-2 to be represented by Workers United International.

Ryan Kiefer works at the store and is an eight-year veteran of Starbucks.

"I would not have worked for Starbucks for eight years if I didn't like the job," he said. "I do like the job. I love the job. There's reason I don't want to leave. With that said, I think there's always room for improvement."

Earlier, workers at five other Chicago locations and one in northwest suburban Cary voted to unionize.

Workers at Starbucks stores in Logan Square, La Grange and downtown Chicago voted against unionizing.
