CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Metropolitan Brewing, which has called the North and Northwest Side home for 15 years, will close before the end of the year, its owners announced on Facebook Tuesday.
“Friends, fans and family: We’re to confirm that we’ve been unable to resolve our differences with our landlord and are left with no choice but to close our business,” the message began.
The ownership team said they had no plans to “rebuild or revive” Metropolitan Brewing in a different location, so those who want to grab a pint will need to visit the tap room which will be open every day except Thanksgiving.
Metropolitan’s last day of operations will be Dec. 17, when it will remain open until 9 p.m.
“The last 15 years are a treasure trove of memories,” they wrote. “We worked hard. We worked as a team. We looked out for each other as we navigated some pretty scary s---. We are grateful for every soul that passed through our doors, both on Ravenswood and on Rockwell.”
The Metropolitan team said many people had reached out with offers to help.
“The best thing for us, right now, would be for you to visit the tap room, drink some beer, take to-go beer with you and take good care of the team behind the bar,” they wrote.
“We truly love and will miss you. Thank you for being the best fans we could ever hope for.”
