That invite may look fun, but fraudsters could be lurking to make your money and information the life of the party. Kayla Palmore with the Better Business Bureau’s Tip-Off to the Rip-Off® on WBBM has the details.
It’s graduation, wedding, and summer party season, and scammers might invite you to their scheme.
A new wave of fake “You’re Invited” texts and emails are being sent through what appears to come from popular services like Evite.
These phishing scams may ask you to enter your email, username, and password or other information, claiming it’s needed to provide a special verification code to view event details.
If you receive an unexpected invitation, contact the host directly to verify it’s legitimate.
Protect yourself by keeping your devices updated and changing your passwords regularly.
