Female bobcat captured by Wildlife officials

A wild animal is recovering in the west suburbs, after conservation officials found her worse for wear.

"This is actually the first bobcat we've gotten since 2018," said DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center Head Veterinarian Dr. Sarah Reich. "They're much more common south and west of us."

Oaken Acres Wildlife Center posted about the wild cat, saying she'd been hit by a car in Oregon, Illinois before ending up on a women's front porch.

"We were able to sedate and anesthetize so we could get some diagnostics," Dr. Reich told us.

What they found was head trauma, a broken canine tooth and an already-healed fracture of the scapula.

"It is very likely that she was hit by a car initially and then unfortunately hit by a car again."

After a tooth extraction, the bobcat will continue to heal at the DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center before she's sent back to her home to be released.
