(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The Chicago Bulls have made a significant donation – an entire building – to the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago.

The NBA franchise has conveyed the James R. Jordan Club building, a 41,000-square-foot complex that was opened in 1996 to honor the late father of Bulls legend Michael Jordan.

"The Chicago Bulls are committed to giving back to the community and supporting organizations, like the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago, that create safe places for Chicago youth to learn and grow," Michael Reinsdorf, Bulls president and chief executive officer, said in a prepared statement.

The James R. Jordan Club is one of eight facilities operated by the Boys & Girls Club that programs to help young people achieve academic success, healthy lifestyles and leadership skills, the organization said.

The James R. Jordan Club is also the practice facility for all Bulls entertainment teams. Bulls entertainers often volunteer at the Club, offering pro bono dance lessons and other programs for youth.
