(WBBM NEWSRADI0) --A census error could have a big impact on Illinois' economy.

A mistake in the 2020 census means Illinois is owed millions of dollars in federal cash, because the amount of federal money is allocated based on population. The Census Bureau released a report this week saying Illinois's count was off just under two percent.

That means the state didn't lose population, but actually gained about 250,000 residents between 2010 and 2020.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Governor J.B. Pritzker is expected to touch base with a Democrats in the delegation to deal with the Census error.
