CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- It's still snowing, and before it's all over some communities may receive eight inches.
It is the first big winter storm of the season, and people were out Tuesday clearing their sidewalks and driveways.
One man using his snowblower in Elmhurst said he was glad he didn't have to shovel, as his neighbors were. Jackie Salek was out with her shovel and liking it. She said it was good exercise.
Alice Hubbell was in good spirits, but she pronounced the snow heavy and wondered whether she might have been better off hiring a kid in the neighborhood.
"It's still coming down so, I wonder if I'm doing this all for nothing. I'll probably be out here doing this again in a little while," she said. 'It's very heavy and very wet. Where's the neighbor kids?...I was hoping maybe they'd stay home [from school], make a few bucks."
People said they couldn't complain about the weather since we really haven't had much snow this winter anyway.
Dave Strauch was shoveling his sidewalk and long driveway Tuesday morning. He said that until Tuesday, all he's needed to deal with snow this season is a broom.
"Been out here for about 40 minutes maybe...[the snow is] heavy. Definitely heavy. But, I'm getting by. Snowblower's not working so I'm using the old shovel," he said.
