(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Chicago Department of Public Health is warning about a potential leak of personal medical information.
The agency announced sensitive information may have been inadvertently disclosed in public health and safety stats.
CPDH has an alert on its website saying it learned three months ago that visitors to a dashboard could see people’s names and medical information if they took certain steps.
The department did not specify what those steps were nor how many people were potentially affected and said it’s not aware of any actual misuse of the data.
CDPH says it learned of the inadvertent data sharing back on Oct. 8 and disabled public access to the information after an investigation.
The department encourages residents to run their credit reports and is offering a year of free monitoring through IDX to those affected.
