Chicago-based movie producers take home big prize at Edinburgh International Film Festival

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A pair of movie producers in Chicago were the big winners at a Film Festival in Scotland.

Jim Kreutzer and Mary Eileen Blondell of Chicago-based Sheridan Road Productions made “The Road Dance” in Scotland last fall.

The movie is a World War I period drama and love story based on the novel by John MacKay.

Blondell said they made the movie during the COVID-19 pandemic and the world premiere was in August during the scaled-down Edinburgh International Film Festival.

“Because they had to change the format of it, they didn’t give out a lot of awards that they do annually. So the only award that they give out this year was the audience award for best picture. And the only award they gave, we received. So, very, very exciting,” Blondell told WBBM Newsradio.

They said they hope to show the movie at a few more festivals before reaching a deal with a distributor. Their next project is a golf show for the CBS Sports Network.
