
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Cash-strapped Chicago city government has a potential source of uncollected revenue that is worth tens of millions of dollars, a good government group says.
Since 2019, city inspectors have issued 117,000 citations, totaling $153 million in fines, for violations related to rodent control.
But of that amount, $126 million in ticket debt has not been paid, David Griesing, president and CEO of the Better Government Association, tells WBBM Newsradio.
A Northbrook woman is tied to companies that collectively have racked up $15 million in unpaid rat fines, he said.
