High-ranking Marine Academy official removed for sending anti-vax information to families

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Col. Larry Kaifesh was removed from Marine Leadership Academy this week for citing an anti-vaccination campaign in an email to parents.

The story was first reported by Block Club Chicago.

In the email, which contained the subject line “Important Update,” Kaifesh said he’d tested positive for COVID-19.

He also explained why he chose not to get vaccinated and warned families about the “dangers of vaccinating children.”

During a news conference with the Chicago Department of Public Health, Chicago Public Schools CEO Pedro Martinez confirmed an employee was removed from Marine Leadership Academy.

“[For] spreading false information about vaccines, which is contrary to everything Dr. Arwady and I have been preaching and speaking about,” Martinez said.

Kaifesh was the top military official at Marine Leadership Academy.

He also ran against then Rep. Tammy Duckworth for the U.S. House in 2014.
