CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The application portal for the One Summer Chicago jobs and training program is now open.

One Summer Chicago employed more than 20,000 young people during the summer of 2022. This year, administration officials said they plan to offer life and job skills training for some 26,000 young people from June through early August.

"One Summer Chicago invests in thousands of summer work experiences to support Chicago's youth, elevate their professional skills, and give them an opportunity to earn a paycheck," Mayor Lori Lightfoot said in a statement. "I'm proud to continue this program to empower our youth and prepare them for success."

The program targets Chicagoans who are 14 to 24 years old.

According to a press release, the One Summer Chicago program will provide opportunities geared toward supporting individual and community growth. Officials said it will provide hands-on experience in tech, health care, media and more.

Applications are already available online. The application period closes on June 2.
