CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- One of the largest landlords in the city is being sued by tenants over alleged unsafe and unhealthy living conditions.
Kayla Jones, 26 is among more than a dozen tenants suing Pangea Properties, which operates 7,500 apartments throughout the South and West Sides of the city.
Jones and the others said Pangea ignores their complaints about rat and roach infestations and broken elevators and a lack of heat or electricity. Jones said a maintenance person did show up once and even though mice were running around the kitchen in plain view, he denied seeing anything and said "what do you expect? You live in the ghetto."
Pangea Properties denies the allegations made in the lawsuit.
