(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Two Cook County Sheriff's officers are among several people hospitalized after a crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway Sunday morning.

It happened just after 4 a.m. in the outbound lanes near the 95th Street CTA station.

Illinois State Police reports three vehicles were involved in the crash and five people were taken to area hospitals.

That includes two investigators with the Cook County Sheriff's electronic monitoring unit who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police report the crash was a chain reaction caused when traffic slowed in front of a vehicle in front of a marked CCSP squad car.

Both of those vehicles were traveling in the far right lane. A third vehicle involved was driving in the center right lane.

That portion of Dan Ryan was temporarily shutdown, but has since been reopened.

Illinois State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
