COOK COUNTY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- One lucky couple has been chosen as the first to be married in Cook County next year.
Cook County Clerk Karen Yarborough live streamed the lottery on Facebook.
The winning couple will tie the knot on Jan. 3. They were chosen from at least 80 others who applied for the drawing.

The winning pair will be wed by the Clerk on Monday, January 3 and will receive gifts from: Whittingham Meats, Coopers Hawk Winery & Restaurant, Eli's Cheesecake, Duet Dance Studio, The Chopping Block, Lasalle Flower Group, Jackbox Games, and The Laugh Factory Chicago!

Pre- pandemic, couples would line up before the crack of dawn to be the first to be married in the new year. Yarborough said the first marriage license of the year is always special.
"We all know that the pandemic has altered our courses in so many ways, but the special institution of marriage and the first wedding of the year must go on."
Some of the prizes included with the county's first marriage license include gourmet dinner boxes, a wine package, dancing and cooking lessons, and flowers and tickets to a comedy show.
