(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- It takes longer than four years for most graduates of Chicago Public Schools to earn a bachelor's degree in college, researchers at the University of Chicago say.
Alex Usher, a senior research analyst, said a study found only about 30 percent of CPS grads who went on to college got a bachelor's in four years.
"A lot of students actually take closer to six years to finish their degree," Usher said.
Usher says the study did not look at the reasons why some CPS students took longer to earn college degrees.
The report does warn that students who take longer can face additional financial burdens, including more student debt, and can delay the start of their careers and earnings.
